About Canine Kindergarten

Canine Kindergarten trains your dog in basic obedienceCanine Kindergarten has been an established dog training business in the Pittwater area for many years.
Canine Kindergarten was developed so dog owners could train their dogs using fun, effective, positive training techniques.
Dogs are highly social animals. Lack of socialisation and social isolation often leads to destructive behaviour and separation related anxiety.
Often young dogs left alone for extended periods develop destructive behaviours such as digging, chewing and barking. Lack of mental and environmental enrichment will lead to boredom.
Young dogs need lots of socialisation, guidance and stimulation to grow into confident adults.
Canine Kindergarten can offer a day filled will socialisation, mental stimulation and physical activity. We also pride ourselves on training good manners and appropriate canine play.

I first started working with animals many years ago at the RSPCA, Yagoona. I worked at the RSPCA for 6 years and this provided me with a vast amount of animal behaviour at its finest! I developed a passion for dog training and especially behaviour and started offering puppy classes, which I did for many years. During this time I completed my Veterinary Nursing Certificate and the CGC™ (Canine Good Citizen) course.

After my valuable time at the RSPCA, I worked at the Veterinary Specialist Centre, in Sydney as a senior surgical nurse for six years and completed my Diploma in Surgical Nursing. During this time I continued to run puppy classes and established CANINE KINDERGARTEN. Working as a veterinary nurse has given me the advantage of working with and observing dog behaviour on a daily basis. I have also invested a large amount of time and effort in continuing to update my education on a regular basis.

My qualifications include:
  • Canine Good Citizen (CGC™) instructor, accredited through the Delta Society of Australia
  • Certificate IV in dog behavioural training
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
  • Diploma in Surgical Nursing.

Requirements All dogs attending Canine Kindergarten must have the following requirements

  • Dogs must be 12 weeks or older to attend
  • Documented Veterinary proof of a C5 vaccination
  • Be desexed after 7 months of age
  • Be on current worming, flea and tick prevention
All dogs are required to attend an assessment prior to being accepted to attend Canine Kindergarten. This will give you a chance to see the centre and for us to meet your dog. As part of the assessment, your dog will be required to attend at least half a day at the centre. This will help us see how your dog will react to other dogs, new environments and how he plays/interacts. Please NOTE; any dog that exhibits signs of aggression toward dogs, people, food or toys will NOT be suitable for Daycare.

I am also a Delta Dog Safe™ presenter and a member of the APDT (Association Of Pet Dog Trainers), so you can be assured you are getting the very best when you come to Canine Kindergarten.

My aim is to provide owners with information and knowledge about the behaviour of their dogs and help strengthen the bond and interaction they have with their pets using positive reward based training.
