Puppy Classes | Pet Dog Training-Basic | Behavioural Counselling

Puppy obedience classes for social skills and basic mannersPuppy classes are designed for puppies aged between 8-16 weeks. These classes are a great way for puppies to learn socialisation skills. The window of opportunity for socialisation is very limited. Puppies need to be exposed to as many people (especially children, men and strangers), noises, moving objects and smells as possible.

Puppy classes are also a great way for puppies to learn basic manners such as 'come', 'sit', 'drop' and 'stay'. In addition to basic manners you will also learn ways to prevent destructive behaviours such as chewing and digging.

Other problems like biting/mouthing and toilet training are also covered. All classes are run using positive reinforcement and reward training.

All puppies must have at least one vaccination and be wormed.
  • Classes are of one hour duration and run over a 8 week period.

Junior puppy classes are for older puppies aged between 14-20 weeks. This can be a continuation of puppy classes for additional socialisation and to fine-tune the skill already learnt. If your puppy is too old for puppy class this is also the class for you.

Your puppy will learn all the basic manners taught in puppy class and all the prevention of destructive behaviours. This class is also a great way to socialise your puppy. An introduction of mini agility equipment is also introduced.

All puppies must have at least one vaccination and wormed.
  • Classes run at Avalon Guide hall.
  • Classes are of one hour duration and run over a 5 week period.
  • Evening classes only.

Cost: $230 including a training manual and training lead

Puppy obedience classes for social skills and basic mannersDesigned for dogs aged 5 months and over. The classes are all on-lead and outdoors. This class will teach your dog basic manners such as walking nicely on the lead, recalls on long lines, sit, drop, stay, about turns, introduction to tricks and mini- agility equipment.

Your dog will learn to respond with distractions present. This class is also a great way to continue socialisation skills and interact with other people using positive techniques. Most of all the class is FUN for both owner and dog.

All dogs must be fully vaccinated and wormed.
  • Classes are of one hour duration and run over a 7 week period.
  • 1st class is without the dogs - this is an information and enrolment day).

This class will put your dog to the challenge! Emphasis will be on off- lead management, distance control, out of sight stays, reliable recalls, and distance 'sit' and 'drop'. Using these skills your dog will learn to negotiate an obstacle course through commands and hand signals.

To attend this class dogs must have completed the basic obedience class and have reliable recalls. Dogs must be 12 months and over and be fully vaccinated. <%elseif request("Class")="Trick-n-Treat-Classes" then%> Trick n Treat Classes (Cost: $100)

This class is all about FUN and GAMES. The classes are a fun way to spend quality time your dog. Learn tricks to do with your dog such as, shake, roll-over, play dead, beg, bow, fetch and many more. This class also involves a mini- agility routine.

Dogs must know basic commands to attend this class.

All dogs must be fully vaccinated and wormed.
  • Classes are of one hour duration and run over 4 weeks.
  • Weekend class only.
  • Class run at Avalon Guide Hall.

Some dogs may be unsuitable for group training classes either due to fear or aggression. Some dogs may need in-home training and counselling to help them with certain problems before entering a class.
